Welcome to the "Kids Helping Kids in DE" Page
Did you know that:
—cancer is the primary disease killer of children in the U.S.?
—one in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer?
—about 2,500 children die from cancer every year, more than from asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and pediatric AIDS combined?
—the incidence of childhood cancer has increased over the past 20 years, and no one knows why?
—the FDA has initially approved just two drugs for any childhood cancer since 1995?
—half of all chemotherapies used for children’s cancers are more than 25 years old?
Despite these shocking and heartbreaking facts, pediatric cancer research is one of the least funded types. The good news is that Cookies for Kids' Cancer—founded by Gretchen and Larry Witt, who lost their son, Liam, to cancer in 2011 when he was just six years old—is working hard to change all that. The national 501(c)3 non-profit is committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer; raising awareness; and building a community of supporters worldwide.
This cause is very important in general and to us, and we appreciate any help you can offer. Please be a Good Cookie and donate, spread the word, and/or host your own bake sale or other fundraising event (all profits go directly to childhood cancer research). We dream of a day when no child dies from cancer; together, let's do what we can to make that a reality!
